Thrashing by Kangaroos

PA Whangarei The Kangaroos went on an 11-try romp to beat Northern Districts 52-6 at Okara Park this afternoon. The Australian rugby league side was too big and far too fast for the Northern Districts team. Conditions underfoot were ideal for the fast-running Kangaroo backs who between them scored seven tries.

There was a consolation try for Northern Districts winger Shane Horo 10 minutes from time when he picked up a loose ball on the line. Scorers.—Districts 6 (S. Horo try; R. Campbell penalty). Australia 52 (N. Cleal 2, G. Jack 2, S. Ella 2, J. Ribot, M. O’Connor, D. Hasler, W. Fullerton-Smith, B. Elias tries; O’Connor 3 conversions; Ribot one conversion).
