Health syllabus
Sir,—The health syllabus is the most ridiculous document that has entered into our education system. I am a mother of two average primary school children who attend one of the trialling schools. What rubbish comes home. Do they expect children to cure the ills of society from the ages of five to 12 years? How can a child’s mind do justice to such things as parents’ divorce, loss and separation, good and bad feelings, to list but a few. Does our Minister of Education
know that this type of programme has been tried in overseas countries and proved a total failure? Could not the money this programme wastes be used to better basic education? I and many other parents surely are quite capable of guiding our children to a decent moral standard of life. — Yours, etc M. BRADY. July 2, 1985.
