“Ultimate game”

Sir,—l suppose the fact that Mr Steve Constable (“The Press,” July 2) sees his new money-making venture as the “ultimate game” is at least a recognition of the finality of death. I felt sick at the thought of families encouraged to play a game, the aim of which is to kill one’s opponent. Why do men always see adventure as being akin to destruction? No doubt the Americans and Russians see nuclear war as the “ultimate game” and the tightrope we walk to keep the balance as high adventure. Teaching peaceful relationships, co-operation and love in our schools becomes harder, yet more urgent every day. — Yours, etc., JAN ANDREWS. July 2, 1985.
