Fisherman injured

PA Auckland A Japanese fisherman fell from the Kaei Maru 25, near East Cape, yesterday, said search and rescue officials in Auckland. Colleagues hauled him back on board but he had suffered serious injuries. Auckland marine radio received a distress call from the vessel at 2.25 p.m. The Kaei Maru 25 was directed to sail for Whakatane, where she is expected about 5 a.m. today. The extent of the man’s injuries and the circumstances of his fall were not known last evening.
