No visa ‘breach,’ says official
PA Auckland The prominent South African rugby administrator, Mr Abe Williams, would have to become involved in organising tours to South Africa before breaching the understanding on which his visa was granted, said a Government official in Wellington yesterday. The official said that speaking publicly about sports contacts with South Africa did not amount to a breach.
He was commenting on the suggestion that Mr Williams, a South African member of Parliament, might have breached the conditions of his entry to New Zealand by discussing sports links with South Africa. The background to the issuing of the visa was examined by the Minister of Immigration, Mr Burke, yesterday. It is believed no breach of the conditions has been committed.
