Police have lead to indecent assault
The police are following a positive lead to an indecent assault on a young women in Upper Riccarton on Thursday evening. The woman, aged 19, was walking along the Main South Road, opposite Riccarton High School, about 10.20 p.m. when a man stepped out of a driveway and exposed himself. He then grabbed the woman by the arm but she managed to
break free and run off. Detective Sergeant Robin Woolhouse, of the Hornby police, said the police had spoken to an elderly man to whom the woman had talked shortly before the assault. The assailant is described as a slim European, aged in his mid-20s, about 182 cm tall. He was wearing a dark-green parka.
