Adult literacy workers
Two regional co-ordina-tors for the Adult Reading and Learning Assistance Federation have been appointed. Ms Jean James, of Masterton, will take up a full-time post and Ms Elizabeth Hutchinson, from Kaikohe, a part-time post. The appointments have been made with an annual
grant of $38,000 from the Education Department, announced in the Budget last November.
The grant is for the assistance of all adult literacy schemes in New Zealand. The 120 voluntary programmes now working were set up to help adults with reading, writing, and spelling difficulties.
