Plans for drainage, river boards

The Local Government Commission would now consider other options for doing land drainage work, he said, in an address to the Land Drainage and River Boards' Association conference in Hamilton.
The system of small, independent local bodies had been appropriate during the country’s early development. The intention now was to consolidate flood control, river channel work, and drainage, he said.
