Donagain bright prospect at Hutt Park tonight

Special correspondent Wellington Donagain, having his first start from the Templeton stable of Jack Carmichael, should prove the hardest to beat in the Central Service Station Mobile Pace at the Wellington Trotting Club’s meeting this evening. The change of stable has been forced due to the recent death of Donagain’s owner-trainer, len Law. Donagain and Mr Law have been regular visitors to Hutt park in the last couple of years and the trips have rarely failed to pay their way.

The Regal Yankee five-year-old has had some 15 starts at Hutt Park in the last two years and has fin-

ished further back than fifth only twice. He has notched two wins, four seconds and four thirds. His latest win came on the track in February when he also notched a second and a third at the threenight meeting. His form in the meantime has been a little mixed but last time out recorded a fine second behind Travel Warrant at Addington.

That effort will ensure him a strong following tonight and he should prove hard to beat.

Georgias was a rank failure at Hawera last Tuesday when sent out a very warm favourite. He never left the rear and did not appear to be happy in the conditions.

He should be given a chance to atone and has the No. 1 draw to enhance his prospects.

Rosewood Birch, from the Derek Jones stable, is another regular visitor to Hutt Park who has compiled a good record there. Her form in the south has been useful and should be well placed in this line-up. She will be driven by Anthony Butt, who has been in devastating form at previous Hutt Park meetings this season.

Cinamod Junior gave a strong front-running display to win at Hawera but has not fared as well in the draw tonight. He cannot be discounted, though, and Winning Rose, a last start

winner at Alexandra Park, is a good honest mare.

The T.A.B. double will be completed on the Waiwhetu Service Centre Mobile Pace in which the former South Islander, Quick View, could prevail.

The Out to Win mare was having her first start in the north when she ran a good second behind Pay Day at Hawera on Tuesday. She would not need to improve much to win.

Local Skipper’s recent form has been mixed but he is likely to appreciate the drop in class, while Full of Beans has been racing very soundly. Knowing Noel and Hanover Royale appeal most of the remainder.
