Paint thieves selective

Burglars with a painting project in mind are believed to be responsible for a $lO,OOO theft of paint from a Christchurch firm earlier this week. They took only specific colours, all in 10-litre pails, when they broke into a Hurst and Drake warehouse in High Street some time on Monday night. The paint was taken away in a company van. The firm’s advertising manager, Mr Barry Cawood, believes that the

burglars must have had a painting job planned, and so had stolen to order. “It is not the sort of thing that is sold in a pub,” he said. The van had since been recovered and had suffered minor damage. The brands of paint taken include Dulux, Taubmans, and Hurst and Drake bulk paint. The colours include green, brown, and white. Christchurch detectives are investigating the burglary.
