Woodchester Home alterations

The Deputy Prime Minister, Mr Palmer, has been invited to open the first stage of a $440,000 redevelopment of Woodchester Home in Banks Avenue, Shirley, on Friday. The first stage includes alterations to the kitchen, dining area, and seminar room by Presbyterian Support Services. About $200,000 has to be raised to complete the alterations, plus some funding from the Health Department.

When the third stage, the 10-bed link ward, is completed in 1987 Woodchester Home will care for 20 residents and 40 hospital patients. The hospital licence from Windermere in Papanui will be transferred to Woodchester Home.
