Police hunt ticklers
NZPA-AAP London The London police are hunting a modern-day Fagin who is organising bands of “artful dodgers” in and around the West End cinema district.
The “Daily Mail” reports that the giggling couples at cinemas soon realised that the mystery tickler at their feet was no rodent when they discovered their purses, wallets and handbags were missing. Undercover police are now tracking down the little villains, though a Scotland Yard spokesman admitted: “It is the ringleaders we want.”
London moviegoers are warned in pre-film ‘shorts’ to be careful as thieves are only too glad to relieve them of their belongings.
The police said the little villains were "no joke, but a serious problem.”
