Aircraft collide, ’copter lands

A single-engined pla'ne and an United States Army medical emergency helicopter collided at about 700 metres yesterday, killing one person aboard the plane, ‘authorities said. Nobody aboard the helicopter was injured. The helicopter, which carried six personnel and one child, lost part of its main rotor in the collision but made a safe landing about 150 m from the crash site, authorities said.
The helicopter was flying from Fort Riley to Topeka when the collision occurred. Wreckage from the plane, a Piper Cherokee, was scattered up to 100 m from the fuselage, and the wings were stripped from the plane, authorities said. The victim was identified as Jeff Hoch, aged
