American deported

NZPA-AP Moscow Soviet authorities yesterday deported an American tourist who said she was detained at Moscow Airport customs and strip searched by K.G.B. officers because she was carrying copies of “The Sermon on The Mount” in Russian and English. A United States Embassy official said Regina Sipple, of Salt Lake City, Utah, had been sent to Helsinki on an Aeroflot flight. Ms Sipple, aged 32, arrived in Russia

on Sunday with an American tour group. The Embassy official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that the Embassy would take up the deportation with Soviet officials. Ms Sipple said she was carrying small bound copies of “The Sermon on The Mount” and Russian-lan-guage tapes of children’s music. She said she hoped to give the booklets and tapes to Russians as gifts.
