Mr McLay ‘confused’ on ‘gay’ bill
The Leader of the Opposition, Mr McLay, has been accused of trying to be all things to all men on the issue of homosexual law reform.
The justice spokesman for the New Zealand Party, Mr Philip Hale, said that if Mr McLay wanted an explanation for his poor polling position he need look no further than his confused utterances on the issue.
“In the space of a few weeks Mr McLay has voted in support of Ms Fran Wilde’s bill, stated his intention not to vote in favour of it, stated his support for homosexual law reform, stated his opposition to homosexual law reform, and finally stated that he will poll his electorate before determining his position,” said Mr Hale.
