New sire for Mapperley Stud

The American-bred Chem, winner of six races in France and the United States, will strengthen the stallion ranks at the Mapperley Stud, Matamata, next season. The record of the recently acquired son of the 1977 English Derby winner, The Minstrel, and Banning; includes wins in the French group three Prix de L’Esperence and the laurel Turf Cup in the United States. His notable

placings included seconds in the Grand Prix de Paris, a grade one race in France, and the Nickerbocker H., a grade three race in the United States. Of the nine foals produced by Chem’s dam, Banning, eight were winners, including the good French stayer, Balompie. His second dam, Efficient, by Princequillo, foaled seven winners, among them three stakes winners.
