Mortgages reinstated
PA Auckland The Countrywide Building Society offers to reinstate the mortgage qualifications of customers who have withdrawn their savings amid rumours that the society was in financial strife. The rumours, which have been gathering momentum since last week, have been strongly denied by the Reserve Bank, by the society’s banker, the National Bank, and by Countrywide itself.
