Town Hall ticket commission to rise
Box office ticket commissions charged by the Christchurch Town Hall will be increased from April 1. The new rate will be 50c a ticket for both local organisations and other users. The Town Hall now charges 40c commission, with a discount of 10c for local organisations. The increased charges were approved by the Christchurch Town Hall board of management at its meeting this week. Organisations which have paid a deposit by March 31 for events planned before the end of June will be charged at the present rate. Charges had been held for
two years, said the Town Hall manager, Mr Ray Sleei man. Even with the increase, : the commission would be I lower than that charged in Auckland and Dunedin, and - the same as commission , charges in Wellington. Mr Clive Cotton said local organisations should still be i charged less than profes- ! sional groups to encourage I local acts using the Town > Hall. Mr Sleeman- said the i Town Hall was the only booking office in New Zea- > land that had the differen- > tial. Local organisations already received a discount for the hire of facilities.
