Friends of N.Z.
Sir,—The President of the National Party, Mrs Sue Wood, does not consider more than a’. quarter of the World’s population to be our friends. I quote her from “The Press,” February 18: “I am saddened to find that those nations congratulating us right now are the Soviet Union, the People’s Republic ■ of China and Vanuatu. Where are our friends? Where are our allies?” I have never forgotten the parting message given many years ago to my high school by an American Field Scholar: "Walk together, talktogether, people of the world. Then, and only then, shall we have peace.” I would suggest that Mrs Wood sets out walking and talking soon, as it appears she has plenty of ground to cover. — Yours, etc.,
SUSAN SNELGROVE. February 20, 1985.
