Search for two on Coast called off

Greymouth reporter Searches have been called off on the West Coast for a missing hunter and a fishing' trawler skipper, both presumed drowned. Mr Sean O’Hagen, from Hawea Flat, Otago, was swept away when trying to cross a flooded Haast River with his brother, Liam, on January 3. Liam O’Hagen gained the shore, but extensive helicopter and jet boat searches have failed to find his brother. Constable Roger Millard

of Haast said yesterday that occasional searches were being made of beaches, but the official search had been called off. The search for lan Colville, aged 26, skipper of the trawler Galaxy which capsized off the Greymouth Harbour was called off on Saturday and will not be resumed. Mr Colville’s sole crew member, Michael Tinnelly, also aged 26, survived by clinging to the galley table as it drifted ashore.
