U.S. surplus dried milk for Mexico
NZPA staff correspondent Washington The United States announced plans yesterday to sell $U57,400.000 worth of surplus nonfat dry milk to Mexico, a significant New Zealand market. Mexico is also a traditional United States market for sales of surplus nonfat dry milk, however. The 10,000 tonnes of milk powder will be sold at SUS74O a tonne f.0.b., which
the United States Department of Agriculture describes as “in line” with prices being received there by New Zealand, Canada, Ireland, and Britain. No credit arrangements are involved, the department said. Payment would be in American dollars, with delivery next month. At January 4, the United States was storing 511,113 tonnes of uncommitted nonfat drv milk.
