Ian Ferguson gets trophy

PA Wellington The Olympic Games triple gold medal canoeist, lan Ferguson, has been awarded the 1984 Londsdale trophy, announced yesterday by the chairman of the New Zealand Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association, Mr Roy Dutton.

The trophy is awarded each year to the sports person who has made the greatest contribution to their sport during the year, and is open only to sports on the Commonwealth Games calendar. The award is made by the New Zealand Olympic selection panel.
