Chills join bill

Fresh from being named “most promising new group” at the recent New Zealand music awards, the highly regarded Dunedin band, the Chills, have been confirmed as support act for the Split Enz Town Hall concert on Tuesday.

This gig will mark the return of Terry Moore, the bass guitarist, who replaces Martin Kean.

Also at the awards, the vocalist, Martin Phillipps, was named “most promising male singer.”

The band have a new single released shortly, to follow their succesful “Pink Frost” 45, called “Doledrums, backed by Hidden Bay.”

The Bats make a welcome return to local gigging this week, playing at the Gladstone this evening only. , The band, whose EP, “By Night,” featured in the New Zealand charts for four weeks, will be recording the show for a future single release.

The Rodgers, a four piece, are at the Sandridge Hotel for three consecutive evenings, starting tonight.

The band include two former members of the Real McCoys, plus an exShabboo member. Mirror Moves are also on the bill.
