Whistling without whiskers

PA AUCKLAND The singer, Roger Whittaker, in New Zealand for a concert tour, says he shed his beard seven months ago to look his age. “Friends said, “You don’t look 48 when you’ve got a beard, you look 60.’ and I agreed with them.” he said. Whittaker, who begins a two-week tour in Auckland today said he lamented his inability to base his world wide entertainment business in New Zealand, which he calls “a little haven”.

"It is just impossible. You have to live in London, New York, or Los Angeles - it has to be one of those three.”

Whittaker said his shows would be a blend of old and new material.
