Gold dredge theft charge remand
A charge of stealing a gold dredge valued at $lO,OOO from Kyeburn in Central Otago was preferred in the District Court at Greymouth yesterday. It was alleged that Anthony Raynard Berends, aged 28, a gold miner of Nelson Creek, stole the dredge, the property of Aotearoa Minerals on or about August 1 this year.
He was also charged with allegedly stealing a trailer valued at $lBOO, the property of the same firm on November 9. The defendant (Mr N. F. J. Thinn) entered no plea to either charge and was remanded on bail by Justice of the Peace, Mr N. A. Ellery, to appear before a Judge in the court on November 21.
