Eager buyers queue

Many Christchurch people may not have liked the Budget, but they were certainly eager to read it. Several hundred people queued outside the Government Bookshop in Hereford Street last evening to buy copies of the Budget. They went on sale at 9 p.m., after Mr Douglas had finished' reading it in Parliament, and five staff worked “flat out," until the bookshop

closed at 9.30 p.m., to satisfy the eager buyers. Those who missed a copy in the rush last evening need not worry, however. A spokesman said there would be plenty of copies left today. The bookshop had 1000 copies to sell in Christchurch, as well as 900 that had been pre-ordered. About 32,000 copies of the Budget went on sale throughout New Zealand.
