Save the Children Fund fete
Sir,—On behalf of the Save the Children Fund, I thank everyone who helped to make our fete a success. We thank those who bought our goods, produce, cakes, plants, etc. The sum raised was over $26,000, all of which will go to help famine relief in Ethiopia, and also sponsor 20 children. We have over 270 people who work throughout the year, sewing, smocking, making hats, and exclusive novelties, children’s and babies’ clothes, knitted toys and the cuddly toys that every child treasures, bathroom needs, Christmas decorations, aprons and oven cloths and more, for our annual fete. We can always welcome more workers. This enables the S.C.F. to help to relieve suffering among the homeless, sick and starving children in the world today. There are no paid staff in New Zealand.—Yours, etc., MRS EVA GILMORE, President, S.C.F., North Canterbury. November 4, 1984.
