Howell wins four P class races

Mark Howell, of the Canterbury Yacht and Motor Boat Club, turned in the outstanding performance of the series when he won all four P class races at the Canterbury .age group regatta, sailed from the Stewarts Gully Sailing Club on the Waimakariri River at the week-end.

Howell, sailing Tiki Tak, proved unbeatable. He handled the strong easterly, which at times gusted over 20 knots, on Saturday with competence, and yesterday performed just as well in the light breezes. So light was the wind that in the fourth and final race yesterday afternoon, the fleet had trouble getting a good start, and once on the

course, the breeze was light and wafting. Howell, therefore, had the distinction of winning the championship, in which three of the four races counted, and the under-16 age group section, with a perfect score of zero points. His closest rival proved to be Grant Forsythe,, who sailed Termite to two second placings for second in the championship, with Jason Henderson third. Results.—
