Newton takes 10 wickets

The former Canterbury wicket-keeper, Robbie Newton, took all 10 wickets in an innings while bowling for Kaituna in the Banks Peninsula competition on Saturday.

Bowling medium-pace off cutters, he finished with 10 wickets for 42 from 14 overs as United was dismissed for 78. In the second innings he took another six for 25 as United collapsed to be all out for 73. Kaituna won outright. Newton has just returned to play in the Banks Peninsula competition from Wellington. Newton first played for Canterbury in the 1974-75 season and in his 11 appearances scored 195 runs at an average of 15, took 19 catches and made three stumpings.
