Chinese To Visit
The Governor of Christchurch’s sister province of Gansu in China, Mr Chen Guangyi, will arrive in Christchurch on Tuesday for a visit, at the invitation of the Christchurch City Council.
Mr Chen will be accompanied by the Mayor of the provincial capital, Lanzhou, Idr Wang Daoyi, and three members of Gansu’s provincial Government concerned with foreign affairs, agriculture and forestry, and ani-
mal husbandry. The visit will reciprocate that of the good-will mission led by the Mayor of Christchurch, Sir Hamish Hay, which was in Gansu earlier this year. Talks will be held on the development of trade between the sister provinces and Mr Chen will visit Lincoln College, several agri-cultural-based industries, and also attend the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association Show.
