NZPA-Reuter Peking A team of raftsmen from China and the United States will tackle the upper reaches of the Yangtze River in an expedition next August, says the Xinhua News Agency. The team will start on the Tuotuo River, a tributary of the Yangtze in the remote west Qinghai province, and ride down in four inflatable rafts about 3200 km to Yibin in the south-west province of Sichuan, it said.

The Chinese team members would go to Oregon next April for two months of training for the 45-day journey.
