SONS OF SPEEDY CROWN IN NEW ZEALAND The ranks of trotting sires have been considerably strengthened In 1984 with the Importation of two sons of the world's greatest ever trotting sire Speedy Crown. Speedy Crown Is regarded in the USA as the ‘'Albatross" of the trotting world. , > The first Speedy Crown to come Into New Zealand this season was Speedy Summit, an upstanding 15:2 horse. Speedy Summit was purchased for $U595,000 as a yearling as he Is a beautifully conformed horse who Is bred to trot, and trot and trot. When matching It with the grand circuit colts In his stable, he was badly Injured In an accident. To this day he still carries the scars. Frank Bebbington who stands Speedy Summit has had him In work and he describes him as a stylish trotter with very fast speed. Patrons at the September 29th Ashburton Trotting Club’s Meeting were able to watch his action as he led out the fast class trotters.
