Record profit
NZPA-Reuter . London The 1984 Wimbledon tennis championships made a record profit of $11.2 million, it was announced yesterday. The All-England club chairman, Buzzer Hadingham, said profits rose by 55 per cent, much of it coming from broadcasting and television fees. Ticket sales—which brought a record attendance of more than 391,000—raised almost $5.32 million.
Prize money rose by 57 per cent to $4.78 million. The profit will go to the Lawn Tennis Association.
