Fur trade

Sir,—P. Scott (October 17) gleefully seizes upon a possible chink in this idealist’s armour. Yet such attempts serve no purpose but to soothe the cynic’s conscience. For the record, your correspondent’s hunch struck out, as indeed I wear no leather, be it shoes, trousers, jacket, hat or watch-strap. While in no way claiming to be pure, “holier-than-thou,” or arrogantly righteous, I suggest P. Scott refrains from such attempts at tripping up others’ credibility and consider rather, the issues and the argument. As long as people fail to understand that animals are not ours to eat, wear or experiment on, and instead persist in negative trivialities, it is difficult to see progressive change occurring — Yours, etc., M. WHITE. October 18, 1984.
