Two questioned about homicide
PA Auckland Armed police last evening detained a man and a youth in Shortland Street Central Auckland, in connection with a homicide and related robbery in Palmerston North. A police patrol, which saw a man, aged 25, and a youth, aged 18, in Shortland Street, about 8 p.m. called for reinforcements. A police spokesman said several patrols were coordinated and the pair were taken into custody without struggle. Late- last evening they
were being interviewed about the death of a retired Wanganui stockbroker, Donald Stewart Corby, aged 61, whose body was found in Palmerston North on Saturday, and a later robbery. A youth, aged 18 had appeared in the District Court at Auckland yesterday charged with aggravated robbery. His appearance related to the robbery, on Saturday, of a man, aged 41, of Palmerston North, in an incident that the police said was connected with the Corby homicide.
