August trade deficit

Preliminary trade figures for the month of August show an excess of imports over exports of $269.0 million, the Government Statistician announced. A year earlier the trade deficit was $34.0 million. In August exports were valued at $851.4 million, and imports at $1120.4 million; the corresponding figures for August last year were $7OB million and $742 million. These figures are preliminary and therefore subject to revision.
