Sir, — M. Johnston (October 15) is wrong. We who see the United States as the greatest threat to democracy, peace, and ' justice know it is no longer loyal to the Declaration of Independence, democracy, self-determination, freedom and the right to revolbto secure life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. David Horowit, former director of the Bertrand Russell Centre, London, wrote in “Corporations and the Cold War”: “... There is a class wielding predominant power in the American polity ... which ... can establish its own outlook as a prevailing ideology and ... (its) interests are expansionist, antirevolutionary and tending to be militarist by nature ... It is the giant corporations and financial institutions which dominate the American economy, and, moreover, the economy of the entire Western world.” America has intervened in other nations’ affairs 151 times.
