Wesker play

“I’m Talking About Jerusalem” opens at the Repertory Theatre on Saturday.

The Repertory Theatre is staging “I’m Talking About Jerusalem" until October 6. The play's director is Elizabeth Moody.

This is the third play in Arnold Wesker’s trilogy which includes "Chicken Soup with Barley,” in 1957 and “Roots” in 1958. “I’m Talking about Jerusalem” appeared in 1960. The playwright, Arnold Wesker, was born in the East End of London in the 19305. His plays reflect his own experience from his understanding of the Cock-

ney and Jewish mentalities to the variety of jobs he writes about.

The play is set just after the Second World War when the Labour Government came to power in England and many of the experienced cast remember their feelings and experiences in England and Europe at that time.

Cast members are Eva Joel, Cynthia Ward, Tim Allan, Hamish White, John Smyth, Christopher Crompton, Daphne Milburn, Beryl Macleod, Scott Young, Bob Britten and Ross Gumbley. On September 30 a matinee performance will be staged. There will be no performance on October 1.
