National talks to industry
Members of the National Party’s trade and industry caucus committee visited Christchurch yesterday to meet business representatives.
They met members of the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce, the Canterbury Manufacturers’ Association, and senior party officials. The meetings have been organised as part of a move to improve the party’s contact with New Zealand industry groups. The co-chairman of the committee, Mr Philip Burdon, said the topics under discussion included the possibility that transport deregulation would be reversed, the reintroduction of compulsory unionism, and the impact of the devaluation on commerce.
