Chch will host band contest
Christchurch will host the national championships of Highland pipe . bands in March next year. A big change in next year’s format will be the absence of the quickstep event for Grade 1 bands.
The deletion was decided at the annual meeting of the Highland Pipe Bands’ Association of New Zealand, held recently in Christchurch.
Association members reelected Mr Ross Wilson as president, and elected Mr Lou MacKinnon as North Island vice-president and Mr Lester Flockton as South Island vice-president. The venues for the 1986 and 1987 championships will be Wellington and Nelson respectively.
