Pacifica denies report
A report suggesting that the Pacifica Shipping Company might soon introduce a second vessel on the Lyttelton to Wellington service was dismissed yesterday by the company’s chairman, Mr Brooke McKenzie, as “radical speculation.” , A Radio New Zealand report said yesterday that it believed that the Christ-church-based company was close to deciding on whether to introduce another ship to partner the Spirit of Free Enterprise on the interisland cargo service. ■ Mr McKenzie would not comment on the rumour except to dismiss it as speculation. He reiterated a statement made in May, saying the company was still considering either buying another vessel or a larger vessel to replace the 1204-ton Spirit of Free Enterprise. That position had not changed, he said. The company has steadily increased the tonnages carried by the Spirit of Free Enterprise since the service was launched in May, 1983. Mr McKenzie has said that the vessel could not handle morecargo, in its turn round time of, eight hours. rMIWniiTIWI llMll»l|i||ili|iflM
