Chanting Rosa in top order
Special correspondent Woodville Chanting Rosa looked in top order for tomorrow's Honda Accord Handicap at the Marton meeting when she galloped at Woodville yesterday morning. Gallops took place on the extreme outside of the course proper, which cut out more as the session progressed. Chanting Rosa bowled over 1200 m in Imin 19.75, the last 600 m in 40.85. She ran a fine race for second at Hastings last Saturday and should show up again this week at Awapuni. Payco took Imin 35.5 s for 1400 m, the last 1200 m in Imin 19.5 s and 600 m in 39.85. He galloped when the ground was at its best. Payco is improving and will continue his Melbourne Cup preparation in the Motorcorp Handicap tomorrow.
Guinness ran 1200 m in Imin 22.85, picking up Run-
neth to record 54.4 s for the last 800 m and 40.2 s for the 600 m. Guinness is an improver for the Honda Metric Mile, while Runneth is booked to resume in the Civic Handicap. Grand Gaffa ran 600 m in 40s. An impressive winner in ’ his Hastings debut, he will be tried against the three-year-olds at Waverley next week. Choirmaster ran 800 m in 56.55, the 600 m in 425. Paisono and Chimeric were given a searching gallop over more than a round, finishing with 1200 m in Imin 27.35, the 600 m in 445. Cloud Ruler went 600 m in 435. Bridge Player went easily, completing his work with 600 m in 425. Vin d’Amour was given pacework. She came through her hard Hastings race well. Belmore was among others let off with light work. He was booked for the Feilding trials later in the day.
