Close contest in Australian rules
Canterbury Black beat Canterbury Blue, 122-117, an a closely fought Australian rules match at Ouruhia Park on Sunday. Frank Davies scored 13 of Blue’s 18 goals and the team also scored seven behinds.
Black also scored 18 goals but out-pointed Blue with 17 behinds.
Davies shared the player of the day title with Chris
Bilizcka of the Black team. Lloyd Guest, Keith Lush, Greg Stevenson and John Urquart also had good games for Black while Brendon Itsemaera, John Bennet, Tom Hill -and Nick Downs played well for Blue. Goal scorers for Black were Stevenson (7), Lush (10), Bilizcka (3), and Steve Clarkson (2). For Blue they were Davies (13), Itsmeaera (4), and Downs.
