Small loss at Rangiora

Unfavourable weather, which resulted in the postponement of the club’s December meeting from a Saturday to a Monday, was largely responsible for a loss of $7OO in the accounts to be presented to the annual meeting of the Rangiora Trotting Club next Thursday. The club showed a loss of $8483 for the previous 12 months. The club’s winter meeting had been held on the allweather track. The inclusion of seven mobile start races

had proved popular and these would be included when the track was used in future, says the report of the president, Mr T. L. Scurr. References to the impending retirement of Mr Ray Catherwood as a steward and treasurer of the club is made in the report. Mr Catherwood has had 24 years of continuous service, and he has been active in helping to keep the tracks in top condition, says the report.
