New ’phone service
PA Wellington The Post Office would introduce a “Freefone” service on September 1, said the Postmaster-General, Mr Hunt, yesterday. ' The new service would be an extension of the collect call service and would cater for business people, making it easier for distant clients to call without paying a toll fee, he said. Subscribers wanting a Freefone service will need to lease a separate telephone number to which incoming S.T.D. toll calls will be automatically charged.
