Leg severed
A 20-year-old fanner drove his tractor about Ikm for help after his leg was severed by the rotating blades of a tilling machine. Peter Currell, of New York, near North Shields, was ploughing a field when he slipped and caught his right leg in the machine. It was severed above the knee. He climbed back into the tractor cab — leaving his severed leg — and drove to a public house A medical team was contacted while the police collected the leg and packed it with ice But it was “too badly mutilated’’ to be sewn back — London.
