July mild and cloudy
PA Wellington Most areas of New Zealand had a mild, cloudy July, the Meteorological. Services’s report for the month shows. This suited farmers, many of whom reported lambing and calving under way by the end of the month, with fewer losses than usual, it said. The middle of the month brought snow to low levels in the high country and southern South Island. Apart from this period, temperatures rarely fell below the month’s average. The month’s highest temperature of 20.4 deg. was recorded at Wairoa on July 2. It was the warmest July day since 1967.
