Steiner school teachers meet
Teachers from Rudolf Steiner schools in New Zealand are in Christchurch this week for a conference to share ideas and help resolve common problems. It is only the second time such a national conference has been held. The first conference was held two years ago with about 35 teachers. There are 70 teachers at this week’s conference. The real concern of the conference was the educating of the senses, said a teacher in the Christchurch Rudolf Steiner School, Mr Stephen Proctor. “There are 12 senses in the Rudolf Steiner system,” he said. “They include the five usual senses and seven others; balance, movement, speech, thought, ego, life, and warmth.” There were now four Rudolf Steiner schools in New Zealand and two kindergartens which wanted to start as schools, said Mr Proctor.
