PA Wellington New Zealand’s Olympic athletes would be treated to a Government reception at the Beehive next week, said the Prime Minister, Mr Lange, last evening. Mr Lange said he would be host to a reception in the Beehive Banquet Hall on August 23 for the Olympic team, the physically handicapped Olympic team and Olympic Games officials. The Governor-General, Sir David Beattie, and Lady Beattie, Cabinet Ministers and all members of Parliament, will be invited to the reception, which will be held between 1 p.m. and 2.30 p.m.
Mr Lange will address the reception which is being organised by the Minister of Recreation and Sport, Mr Moore.
Mr Joe McManemin, who led the Auckland campaign for the 1990 Commonwealth Games and managed the 1960 Olympic athletic team, expects a big crowd at Auckland Airport to greet the team tomorrow.
