Consent for exhibit
PA Wellington An important Maori art piece, withdrawn from the exhibition, Te Maori, in the United States, can now go to New York. The families concerned with the piece, an impressive poutokomanawa (carved post), unanimously gave their consent for its inclusion in Te Maori exhibition at a meeting at the Waiohiki marae in Hawke’s
Bay, last Sunday. A lack of communication between the two Hawke’s Bay families had led to the post’s being left behind. An executive of the New Zealand management committee organising Te Maori, Mr Piri Sciascia, said the committee was pleased the important and valuable Eiece would be in the exhiition, which .will open in New York on September 10.
